Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Shuraid Al-Muwasharji, affirmed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its steadfast support alongside it, and its backing of all measures undertaken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability. This came in Kuwait’s statement delivered by Al-Muwasharji during his participation in the 20th meeting of the heads of the Shura, Parliament, National, and Assemblies of the Member States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held today (Wednesday) via video conferencing at the invitation of Saudi Shura Council Chairman Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh.
In a statement, the Office of the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs noted that Minister Al-Muwasharji reiterated Kuwait’s firm position condemning the attacks launched by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Kuwait’s security and that of the GCC member states. He called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in confronting these attacks and holding those responsible accountable.
He stressed the importance of enhancing Gulf solidarity, intensifying coordination and consultation among GCC member states, and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, thereby preserving regional security and stability and preventing further escalation into heightened tensions.
Al-Muwasharji underscored the necessity of safeguarding the security and freedom of maritime navigation, as well as the safety of international waterways, and rejecting any attack or threat targeting commercial vessels or endangering the safety of sea routes, given their strategic importance in ensuring the smooth flow of international trade, energy supplies, and global supply chains.
He reaffirmed Kuwait’s unwavering support for the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people and its condemnation of the Israeli occupation authorities’ attacks, calling for an immediate halt to these attacks, the protection of civilians, and efforts toward achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace that guarantees the Palestinian people their right to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He highlighted the importance of unifying Gulf perspectives and coordinating positions on priority issues in international forums and organizations, thereby strengthening the GCC states’ presence, supporting their interests, and contributing to consolidating international peace and security.
In conclusion, Al-Muwasharji expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the meeting, and to the GCC Secretariat General for its continuous efforts in supporting joint Gulf cooperation.
