Privacy Policy

“Qyas” is a news search engine that indexes Kuwaiti newspapers and displays headlines and short excerpts with a link to the source. We do not create user accounts, sell your data, or use advertising trackers. This document explains the limited data we process.

1) Who we are & the nature of the service

Qyas is an automated news aggregation and search service. We index Kuwaiti sources (KUNA (Kuwait News Agency), Al-Anba, Al-Qabas, Al-Jarida, Al-Rai, Al-Nahar, Al-Seyassah, Sarmad, Al-Wasat, and Kuwait News) and show the headline, a short excerpt, the source name, the publication time, and a link back to the original for the full story. We do not host full articles.

2) Data we collect

• Server logs: IP address, browser type, requested page and timestamp — for security, abuse prevention and performance.
• Approximate location: country/city derived from the IP, used only for aggregate statistics and not linked to your identity.
• Local preferences: theme (light/dark) and language are stored in your browser (localStorage) and are not sent to our servers.
• AI assistant queries: what you type into the assistant is processed to generate a reply and may be logged for quality and abuse prevention. Please do not enter personal or sensitive information.

We use no advertising cookies or third-party trackers, we never sell or rent your data, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.

3) Processing happens on our own infrastructure

Translation, summaries and the AI assistant run on our own servers, so your queries are not sent to external AI providers — offering stronger privacy.

4) Retention

Server logs and aggregate statistics are kept for a limited period (about 90 days) and are then deleted or anonymised automatically, unless the law requires otherwise.

5) Third parties

We rely on infrastructure providers (e.g. network/hosting and Cloudflare for domain management) who may process technical data on our behalf. Our pages also link to original source websites, which are governed by their own privacy policies, not ours.

6) Your rights

You may request access to, correction, deletion of, or object to the processing of your data. Contact us at info@alqyas.com. See the Data Deletion page for how to request deletion.

7) Children’s privacy

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8) Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) and reasonable access controls, though no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

We may update this policy and will post the revised version here with an updated “Last updated” date.
