Ibrahim Muhammad Direct investment inflows to Kuwait rose to 948 million dinars, equivalent to approximately $3.1 billion, during the fiscal year 2025/2026 ending on March 31, 2026, reaching nearly four times its level in the previous fiscal year, according to the 11th annual report of the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, titled “Driving the Growth Engine.” During the fiscal year, the Authority approved 17 new investment entities, and the cumulative value of approved investments from 2015 through the end of March 2026 reached approximately 2.92 billion dinars, equivalent to about $9.6 billion. Investments in the last fiscal year alone accounted for approximately 32.5% of this total.

The Authority’s Director General, Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, attributed the rise in inflows to the openness of the Kuwaiti economy, its competitiveness, and its readiness for the future. In his statement in the report, he noted that the value of attracted investments extends beyond capital size to include the knowledge and technology they bring, as well as the opportunities they provide for Kuwaiti talent.

In its assessment of the economic impact of licensed projects, the Authority examined their contributions to job creation, human capital development, technology transfer and localization, and increased reliance on local content. The assessment also covered the role of these investments in expanding private sector participation in development projects, thereby supporting the objectives of “Kuwait Vision 2035.”

The report outlined the Authority’s achievements under its medium-term strategy for the period 2025–2030, which prioritizes attracting investments with tangible economic impact, facilitating investor procedures, and developing digital and investment services. The Authority continues to work with its partners to support innovation and enhance the economy’s capacity to adapt to changes.
