Marwa Al-Juaidan, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, confirmed that the launch of the ministry’s new website and its unified digital services portal marks a new step in the digital transformation journey. The portal aggregates hundreds of electronic services covering more than 99 percent of the total services provided by the ministry’s sectors and departments.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Thursday, Al-Juaidan stated that the unified digital portal embodies the ministry’s direction toward delivering a more convenient, faster, and integrated government experience for individuals, business owners, and government entities.
She added that the ministry aims to leverage technology, artificial intelligence, government integration, and digital data to build a comprehensive experience that aligns with the aspirations of the State of Kuwait, enhances the business environment, and improves oversight and transparency levels.
The portal features electronic integration with dozens of government entities through direct linking and via the Google Apigee platform, under the patronage of the Central Agency for Information Technology. This integration helps streamline procedures, accelerate transaction processing, improve service quality, and support the business environment in Kuwait.
Al-Juaidan clarified that the ministry’s digital transformation is not limited to digitizing services but extends to redesigning the user journey and connecting services, data, and relevant entities within an integrated digital experience.
The system allows users to initiate and track their transactions and access related services through a unified platform, in addition to integrating with the Unified Government Application for Electronic Services (Sahel).
Al-Juaidan noted that the ministry is also collaborating with Microsoft to deploy artificial intelligence technologies, including the ministry’s smart assistant. This tool aims to help business owners and visitors easily identify services, requirements, and procedures, start business activities, submit applications, and track them more efficiently.
The digital transformation also includes developing an electronic system for submitting company budgets and financial statements through the XBRL standard, which enhances the quality and accuracy of financial data, accelerates audit and analysis processes, and strengthens transparency and oversight.
This system provides a more organized and analyzable financial database, supporting decision-making.
Preparations are underway for mandatory electronic submission of budgets and financial statements according to the XBRL standard, effective January 1, 2027. This step aims to develop financial disclosure mechanisms, improve the efficiency of handling corporate financial data, and enhance the business environment in Kuwait.
The new digital system supports the ministry’s regulatory and strategic files, including strengthening food security and improving the efficiency of market and supply chain monitoring.
The system also contributes to developing digital tools supporting anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing efforts, raising oversight and compliance levels through data integration and digital analysis.
The launch of the website and the unified digital portal marks the beginning of a new phase of continuous development and digital integration, making the ministry’s services more accessible, easier to use, and faster to process.
