Asala Nasri reveals theft of her jewelry with high emotional value in Detroit

Syrian artist Asala Nasri revealed that her jewelry was stolen during her recent tour of the United States, specifically after her final concert in Detroit. She expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a jewelry box containing pieces that hold special memories from her father, husband, and children, as well as gifts and items linked to key milestones in her artistic career.

About a week after the incident, Asala decided to disclose the details through a lengthy message posted on her social media accounts. In it, she recounted how she discovered the disappearance of her jewelry and explained why these pieces held exceptional value for her, emphasizing that she had not wished to publicize the incident so as not to diminish her happiness regarding the success of her U.S. tour.

Asala began by expressing her joy over the results of her tour in the United States, noting that she performed some of the best concerts of her life and delighted thousands of fans whose enthusiasm exceeded her expectations.

She said, “Praise be to God, the goal of the trip to America was achieved, and I performed the most beautiful concerts of my life, bringing joy to thousands of people. I was happy with all of them. We started in Los Angeles with a great night, then moved to New Jersey, where the response was like a dream. The final concert was held the day after in Detroit.”

Regarding the hours leading up to the discovery of the theft, she explained that she arrived at the hotel in Detroit and prepared to change her look before heading to the concert. She swapped her jewelry, stressing that she always prefers to wear her own personal items while traveling and never uses pieces she does not own, to avoid being held responsible for other people’s jewelry.

She added, “When I got to the hotel, I got ready and changed my jewelry. Thank God, everything I wore was mine. I never carry anything I don’t own; that’s my habit when traveling. I fear taking responsibility for others’ belongings.”

Asala spoke about the atmosphere of her final concert in Detroit, describing it as an exceptional night with the audience. After returning to the hotel exhausted following the evening’s events, she prepared for bed, unaware that the next morning would bring a painful surprise.

She continued, “I went to the concert, and it was at the peak of beauty. The attendance was staggering, the atmosphere was fantastic, and everyone was thrilled, including me. After the concert ended, I returned home tired, got ready to rest, and went to sleep. In the morning, I opened my bag to change my necklace, which I like to change daily depending on how I feel. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find my jewelry box at all.”

For Asala, the disappearance of the jewelry was not merely a loss of valuable possessions. She revealed that the box contained items of great emotional significance, some of which had taken a long time to prepare and required waiting more than a year before they were ready to be worn. Prominently among them were jewelry pieces bearing her father’s name and image.

The collection also included important memories from her husband, poet Faik Hassan, and her children, as well as gifts she had given herself to celebrate the success of her concerts, albums, and songs. Additionally, it contained gifts from close friends, making the loss even more painful for her.

Describing what she had lost, Asala said, “Of course, I was upset for many reasons. The first and most important is that I worked for a long time and waited more than a year. I had my father’s name on my head and his image on my chest. There were important memories from my husband and my children, gifts I gave myself on occasions celebrating the success of a concert, album, or song, and gifts from dear friends.”

Coinciding with Asala’s account, the Detroit Police announced the start of an investigation into the theft of valuable jewelry from the room of one of the guests at the MGM Grand Detroit hotel, in a report dating back to the morning of Sunday, November 1, 2026.

According to the American news website ClickOnDetroit, police officers responded to a burglary report near Third Street in Detroit around 10:30 a.m., where they found a woman who had reported the disappearance of valuable jewelry from her room.

Regarding the monetary value of the jewelry, media outlets circulated estimates reaching $6 million, but Detroit police did not announce an official value for the missing items, nor did they specify the authenticity of the material loss in their statement.

For her part, Asala revealed that police arrived at the scene after the jewelry went missing and that a large number of people flocked to the location, but she has not received any new information about the fate of her belongings despite the passage of nearly two weeks.

Asala explained that her decision not to speak about the theft immediately after it occurred was linked to her desire to preserve her happiness over the success she achieved during her U.S. tour, and to prevent this painful experience from spoiling her memories of the concerts, which she described as some of the most beautiful artistic experiences of her life. However, after careful consideration, she decided to share what happened with her audience, despite the difficulty of recalling the details of the incident, emphasizing that she would avoid dwelling on it and would try to continue her life and artistic career.

She said in her message: “After thinking it over, I decided to tell you this story that overwhelmed me, but I will avoid letting it consume me and will continue on my path.”
