Britain announced today, Saturday, its successful launch of a satellite dedicated to monitoring military activities on the ground.
The British Ministry of Defense confirmed in a statement that the launch of the satellite, named “Titania,” into orbit took place last month. It will help the British Armed Forces coordinate their efforts on the ground and in the air by enhancing their ability to monitor terrestrial military activities from space.
The ministry noted that this second generation of British-made satellites is the second to be sent into orbit, following the earlier launch of “Tyche.” The two satellites are managed by the British Space Command as part of the multi-satellite “Echostar” program, which has a total cost of 986 million pounds sterling (1.29 billion dollars).
