The terrorist Houthi attack on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the attempt to target Makkah Al-Mukarramah with a drone sparked a widespread wave of Arab and Islamic anger, amid broad solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and confirmation of support for all legitimate measures it takes to protect the Two Holy Mosques, the guests of the mercy of Allah, its territories, its citizens, and its residents.
The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces thwarted a new Houthi attack attempt targeting Makkah Al-Mukarramah on Tuesday evening, after intercepting and destroying a drone before it entered the prohibited airspace of the Holy Capital, in an attack that triggered a wide wave of condemnation from the Gulf, Arab, and Islamic worlds.
The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition announced that the drone was launched by the Houthi militia and was intercepted south of the city of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. Meanwhile, Coalition Forces spokesperson Lieutenant General Turki Al-Maliki confirmed that this hostile and terrorist attempt is the second targeting Makkah Al-Mukarramah, following the attempt to launch a ballistic missile on July 27, 2017.
Al-Maliki described the attack as a despicable act and an attempt to target the landing place of the Divine Revelation, the land of the Message, and the destination of the hearts of millions of Muslims from various countries, as well as to terrorize the safe guests of the House of Allah and harm citizens and residents. He emphasized that the security of the Two Holy Mosques and the guests of the mercy of Allah is a red line, and confirmed that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will not hesitate to take necessary and deterrent measures against the Houthi militia and its hostile and terrorist behavior.
The Kingdom praised the vigilance of the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces, which responded to this attack and succeeded in intercepting and destroying it before it entered the prohibited airspace of the Holy Capital, Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
Kuwait expressed strong condemnation and denunciation of the attempt to target Makkah Al-Mukarramah, confirming that this cowardly and despicable act constitutes a violation of the sanctity of the Qibla of Muslims, a disregard for its religious status, and an infringement on the sentiments of Muslims.
The Council of Ministers affirmed Kuwait's absolute solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty and security, protect the Two Holy Mosques, and maintain their sanctity. It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an inseparable part of the security of the State of Kuwait and the security of the states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
