Palestinian medical sources told RT that nine people were killed in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, including five police officers, as a result of Israeli airstrikes, and one injured person died from previous wounds.
The Gaza Interior Ministry announced that five police officers and personnel were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted them while they were performing their duties in the Mawasi area west of Khan Younis city in the southern Strip. The ministry identified the deceased as Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Zakaria Al-Jamal (44), Major Bassam Nammah Muqdad (53), First Sergeant Mohammed Amin Al-Nams (37), Police Assistant Shaher Mohammed Zaaroub (28), and Police Assistant Mohammed Ali Abu Shaar (23).
The ministry confirmed that the number of police fatalities since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025 has risen to 75, calling on the international community to intervene to stop the targeting of the force’s members, which it said carries out civil duties to maintain security.
In response, the Israeli military, according to Reuters, stated that it targeted several militants in Khan Younis, without providing further details. It did not immediately comment on the airstrike in Gaza City.
In Gaza City, Mohammed Awais and his son Zain Mohammed Awais, along with Jamal Abu Saada, were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted Al-Thawra Street in the Al-Ramla neighborhood. The strike also injured several Palestinians, some with serious injuries.
In the central part of the Strip, Ibrahim Adel Saeed died from injuries sustained from Israeli tank fire during a previous incursion into Al-Masdar village, according to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa). The village saw Israeli military vehicles encroach near the Ibn Zaydoun School, coinciding with tank shelling targeting its eastern areas.
In the northern part of the Strip, field reports indicated Israeli artillery shelling coinciding with the movement of military vehicles near the Al-Snafour intersection in the Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City, alongside heavy fire from tanks east of the city and warships off its coast.
Israeli gunfire also continued in the Al-Shakush and Ard Al-Laymun areas south of Khan Younis, coinciding with artillery shelling targeting the eastern areas of the governorate.
In its latest monthly figures announced on Sunday, the Gaza Health Ministry reported that the Strip recorded 143 deaths and 674 injuries in October. This brings the total number of fatalities since the ceasefire began in October 2025 through the end of October 2026 to 1,583 dead and 5,696 injured.
