The Acting Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Kuwait, Orayawan Korto, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening relations between Kuwait and Thailand, and in consolidating communication and understanding between the two peoples. She noted that books provide an opportunity to learn about the cultures, histories, traditions, and lifestyles of others.

Speaking at a ceremony held yesterday, during which the Thai Embassy donated 100 books from Thailand to the Kuwait National Library, Korto said the initiative aims to introduce Kuwaiti readers to Thailand’s heritage, culture, and people. She expressed her hope that the books would serve as a bridge for communication between the two peoples and as a step toward enhancing the existing relations between the two countries.

She explained that the collection includes books covering diverse topics, such as culture, arts, literature, and Thai history, offering readers a glimpse into Thai heritage, society, and the stories that have contributed to shaping its cultural identity.

Korto pointed out that the books were provided with support from the Thailand Foundation, a non-profit organization working to promote friendship and communication between Thailand and countries around the world. She added that the collection will be placed in the “Diplomatic Hall,” which the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters is establishing at the Kuwait National Library.

For his part, Mohammed bin Rida, Acting Assistant Secretary-General for the Antiquities and Museums Sector at the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, affirmed that the Thai Embassy’s initiative to donate a collection of books to the Kuwait National Library represents a valuable intellectual and cultural addition, providing library visitors with the opportunity to learn about Thailand’s history, literature, arts, and ancient civilization.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Council’s Secretary-General, Dr. Mohammed Al-Jassar, during the book handover ceremony, bin Rida said the Council appreciates this initiative, which reflects cultural cooperation between the two friendly countries and the existing relations based on mutual cooperation and respect.
