Gulf and Islamic condemnations continued to pour in against the terrorist Houthi militias’ targeting of Mecca and Medina, amid assurances that attacks on Islamic holy sites constitute a violation of their sanctity and a threat to civilian security, with calls for a firm international stance to halt these aggressions.

Jassim Al-Buaidi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that exposing Mecca to the dangers of these strikes represents a highly dangerous transgression that threatens the security and stability of the region. He stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of the security of GCC member states, affirming that Gulf countries stand united behind the Kingdom, supporting its measures to protect its territory and safeguard the security of its citizens and residents.

In a related development, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, and Imam and Preacher of the Grand Mosque, condemned the continued targeting of Mecca and Medina by the terrorist Houthi militias. He asserted that the repetition of these attacks reveals an aggressive approach and a disregard for the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and their revered status among Muslims. Al-Sudais emphasized that targeting holy sites, civilians, and facilities constitutes a religiously prohibited crime, a humanly condemned act, and a violation of international covenants and norms. He praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect the Two Holy Mosques, preserve their sanctity, and ensure the safety of their visitors.

For its part, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s Muslim World League strongly condemned the terrorist Houthi militias’ targeting of Mecca and Medina, along with the fallout from intercepted missiles and fragments landing in areas within the Mecca region and the provinces of Jeddah, Taif, and Rabigh.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and President of the Council of Senior Scholars, stated that targeting holy sites is a serious provocation to the feelings of more than two billion Muslims and a violation of religious values and humanitarian principles. He reaffirmed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in its measures to deter attacks and protect the sanctity of holy sites and the lives of the innocent.

For his part, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), condemned the Houthi attacks on Mecca and Medina, as well as the provinces of Taif and Jeddah. He warned of the serious consequences of their continuation and called on Islamic countries to take collective action and adopt a firm stance to deter the militias and put an end to their practices. He affirmed the OIC’s full solidarity with and support for Saudi Arabia in all measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, stressing that violating the sanctity of Islamic holy sites is an attack on the entire Islamic Ummah, necessitating urgent international action and accountability for those responsible.

Earlier, the interception of two ballistic missiles resulted in debris falling in Wadi Al-Maghmas in the Mecca region, along with fragments from interception operations landing in areas across the provinces of Jeddah, Taif, and Rabigh.
