Kuwait Municipality announced the intensification of its field and inspection campaigns across all governorates to monitor compliance with safety, hygiene, and construction regulations, as well as activity and advertising licenses of all kinds. Municipality spokesperson Mohammed Al-Sandan confirmed that safety teams will tighten supervision at construction, restoration, and excavation sites, taking necessary measures against non-compliant contractors, in addition to monitoring violations related to the dumping of debris.

In a statement, he said the campaigns include removing non-compliant marine boats from squares, public areas, and parking lots, and compelling their owners to use designated sites. He also emphasized intensified supervision of hygiene in high-density areas. He noted that inspections of wholesale and retail markets and health licenses for shops will continue, alongside monitoring construction and engineering works to ensure compliance with building regulations across various activities and areas.

On another note, Kuwait Municipality announced the auction of 633 abandoned vehicles for sale via public tender on Wednesday, October 28, at the vehicle reservation site in the Abdullah Port scrapyard. The vehicles on offer include 240 in Block 10, 260 in Block 11, and 133 in Block 12, according to "Kuwait Al-Youm" newspaper. The municipality clarified that vehicle inspection is available until October 28 during official working hours. Bids will be submitted from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., while envelopes will be opened and the auction held after 12:00 p.m. at the municipality headquarters. The municipality set a non-refundable fee of 75 dinars to obtain the tender specifications, with the final deadline for collection being next Wednesday.

In a separate development, the municipality approved a request from the Ministry of Justice to change the use of land designated as a site for a multi-story parking building into an administrative building and multi-story parking facility, covering an area of 6,625 square meters in the Shuwaikh Administrative Area, in implementation of a Council of Ministers decision. The municipality stipulated that the height of the administrative building and multi-story parking facility must not exceed the permitted height in the area (ten floors), and that a detailed traffic study must be submitted to the Master Planning Department and approved prior to implementation. It also required adherence to the conditions outlined in the responses of the sub-committee members for public utilities and services, and coordination with them before implementation. Furthermore, relevant departments were authorized to relocate and adjust the site’s dimensions and area, not exceeding the allocated sizes, in case of conflict with existing infrastructure services or any regulatory requirements.

The municipality also approved two requests from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to designate two sites for supply centers as sales and distribution points for subsidized and discounted food supplies and their short-term storage purposes in residential areas in Jabal Ali and Al-Riqqa. The municipality decided to allocate a site in Jabal Ali, Plot 8, covering 1,000 square meters, along with a parking area of 1,000 square meters. It also decided to allocate the second site in Al-Riqqa (East Al-Riqqa), covering 1,000 square meters, with a parking area of 22,188 square meters. The municipality stipulated that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry must assume management, supervision, and oversight responsibilities based on the Council of Ministers decision, and comply with the height restrictions for both areas.
