The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that the number of fatalities resulting from the attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam has risen to two, both Indian nationals (one a citizen and the other a resident), while the number of injured remained at eight. The authority confirmed the resumption of operational activities at the airport and the return of air traffic to normal.
Meanwhile, Saudi air defenses intercepted a drone that attempted to target a facility at the Shaybah oil field, operated by Saudi Aramco, in the Eastern Province, according to a senior official at the Ministry of Energy. The attack attempt resulted in the deaths of two residents, one Filipino and one Nepali, and injured residents of Pakistani and Indian nationalities.
The official clarified that the incident caused a fire in a vehicle belonging to one of the contractors working at the field, without affecting operational activities, adding that relevant authorities had begun responding and taking necessary measures.
The coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen announced the interception and destruction of five drones launched toward Saudi Arabia in two operations involving the Medina and Eastern regions. The official spokesperson for the coalition forces, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, issued two statements via the X platform. In the first, he stated that coalition forces intercepted and destroyed four drones launched toward the Kingdom. In the second, he said that forces intercepted and destroyed another drone launched toward the Eastern region. Al-Maliki clarified that the interception and destruction operations were carried out in the Medina and Eastern regions.
These developments come a day after the coalition announced the interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the so-called Houthi terrorist militias toward the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as well as the destruction of a drone in the region and the elimination of the ballistic missile launch platform.
Earlier, the Saudi Civil Defense issued an early warning in Riyadh before declaring the threat had passed minutes later, as part of efforts to address threats targeting Saudi territory.
The coalition previously warned against the Houthi terrorist militias’ exploitation of traditional maritime routes to smuggle weapons, missiles, and military equipment to the Yemeni coasts, emphasizing that such activities pose a threat to Yemen’s security and regional and international security, and endanger the lives and safety of civilians.
