He highlighted the association’s emphasis on sustaining Kuwait’s presence at international forums, strengthening scientific cooperation, and exchanging expertise to support Kuwait’s aspirations toward a more sustainable future with greater water security. He stressed the importance of deepening cooperation between research institutions and relevant stakeholders, leveraging international expertise to develop scientific and technical solutions that improve the efficiency of water resource management and ensure their sustainability for future generations, reaffirming the association’s role in supporting specialized research and enhancing knowledge exchange regionally and internationally.
For her part, Engineer Hiba Abbas emphasized during the meeting sessions that rapid global transformations, including technological and geopolitical developments and growing demand for water and energy, necessitate adopting an integrated strategic vision for the future of the utilities sector. She explained that this vision must focus on enhancing infrastructure resilience throughout its lifecycle, from planning and design to operation and development, ensuring the sustainability of essential services and their capacity to face future challenges.
She added that the next phase requires strengthening integration between the water and energy sectors, leveraging artificial intelligence and modern technologies, alongside adopting a triple-bottom-line sustainability concept that balances social, environmental, and economic dimensions. She affirmed that the strength of infrastructure is measured not only by the scale of investments or the speed of project implementation, but by the wisdom of planning and its ability to achieve resilience, security, and long-term sustainability.
