Egypt Announces Readiness to Support Saudi Arabia in Facing Attacks and Protecting Its Territory

The Egyptian National Defense Council announced Cairo’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its readiness to provide all necessary and feasible forms of support to safeguard the Kingdom’s security, stability, and territorial integrity amid escalating attacks against it. At the same time, it stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to contain regional tensions.
The Egyptian position came during a meeting held by the Council on Sunday, chaired by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the State House, to discuss regional developments and the escalation affecting the region, foremost among them the attacks on Saudi Arabia and their repercussions on security and stability.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency said the Council reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for the Kingdom, drawing on the historic ties between the two countries and recognizing that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are closely linked to Egyptian and Arab national security.
He clarified that the support Cairo pledged aims to contribute to protecting the Kingdom’s security, stability, assets, and territorial integrity, as well as safeguarding Islamic holy sites.
On the political track, the Council emphasized the importance of continuing and intensifying Egyptian efforts, in coordination with relevant regional and international parties, to contain the escalation, de-escalate tensions, and work toward resolving existing crises through peaceful means, thereby preventing the spread of confrontations and their repercussions across the region.
The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Defense and Interior, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the head of General Intelligence, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, commanders of the main branches of the Army, and several senior military and security officials.
The Egyptian announcement comes as the region witnesses heightened tensions and attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, amid concerns over their implications for regional security and stability. This underscores diplomatic initiatives and coordination among concerned states as key avenues for containing the crisis and preventing its expansion.
