The Egyptian parliament will hold an emergency session today, Sunday, after President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi requested authorization to defend Saudi Arabia, should Egypt be asked to do so. President el-Sisi affirmed yesterday that his country will never forget the stance of the brotherly Gulf states in support of Egypt in 2013, stressing that Egypt stands firmly with full support to protect and defend the territories of Gulf states. He added, “In accordance with the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, we will implement any measures to protect and defend the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” In a separate development, el-Sisi confirmed that the end of his presidential term in 2030 is firmly settled.
