The inaugural site meeting was held with the attendance of Eng. Duha Al-Dahi, Director General of the General Administration for Construction and Major Projects, and the Director of the Projects Implementation Department and Head of the Supervision Section, alongside the Ministry’s supervision body at the temporary offices, for Contract H.M.A./308, concerning the construction, completion, and maintenance of the new Northern Building of the Court of Accounts. This project is among the most important initiatives of the Ministry of Public Works, as it requires the application of the LEED system. The project scope includes the new Northern Building, the existing parking structure, the bridge connecting the new Northern Building to the parking structure, and the existing main building of the Court of Accounts.
The LEED work items were presented by the project’s deputy engineer, Eng. Shorouq Al-Dumokhi. LEED is a globally recognized certification system for green and sustainable buildings, endorsed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), to measure building performance and reduce their environmental impact. Other systems followed by the Ministry’s engineers were also discussed, including the explanation of the specialized electronic system developed and implemented for the project by Engineer Abdullah Al-Khamis.
