The Research Sector at Kuwait University organized an introductory workshop on the Preliminary Research Grant (RIG), designed for Kuwaiti academic staff who have been affiliated with the university for no more than two years. The workshop aimed to familiarize participants with available funding opportunities, eligibility criteria, and procedures for implementing research projects.
Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development, Prof. Dr. Nasser Faisal Al-Tanak, emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting scientific talent and encouraging innovative ideas, thereby contributing to the advancement of scientific research and enhancing the academic careers of researchers.
For his part, Assistant Vice President for Research Funding and Implementation, Dr. Abdul Latif Abdullah Al-Rashdan, explained that the Preliminary Research Grant serves as a starting point for new researchers to carry out their projects, stressing the sector’s focus on supporting research with scientific value that addresses Kuwaiti societal priorities.
The workshop covered procedures for funding and implementing research projects, mechanisms for purchasing scientific equipment and hiring assistants, as well as guidelines for scientific missions and electronic services available to researchers.
The workshop was attended by representatives from the Research Development and Accounting Departments, along with new academic staff from various colleges and departments of the university.
