Kuwait Municipality confirmed yesterday, Monday, that safeguarding state property is a shared social responsibility and is not limited to temporary campaigns to remove encroachments, which will be dealt with on an ongoing basis.

Mohammed Al-Jalawi, a member of the central team at the Office of the Municipality’s Director General, emphasized in a media statement during a supervisory tour in Hawalli Governorate that the municipality’s campaign, “Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments,” launched last June, primarily contributes to ensuring everyone’s safety.

Al-Jalawi explained that the supervisory team removed an unlicensed structure (a diwaniya) erected near the sidewalk and utilities after the legally prescribed period had expired, noting that the violator had been warned but failed to comply.

He commended the cooperation of many property owners who had committed violations, highlighting their prompt response in voluntarily removing their infractions, and urged other violators to rectify their violations before supervisory teams reach them.

Al-Jalawi praised the significant role played by government entities and their participation in the campaign since its inception, specifically mentioning the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Interior, and the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs.

He stated that the municipality encourages citizens and residents to follow its official social media accounts to benefit from awareness messages and guidelines published regularly, and to contact the municipality to inquire about any regulatory requirements, thereby facilitating their procedures and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Campaign in Jahra

The Public Relations Department announced that the Engineering Audit and Follow-up Administration in Jahra Governorate conducted a field tour by supervisory teams to address construction violations related to investment, commercial, industrial, and private residential properties, taking all necessary supervisory measures against violators and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and systems.

It confirmed that the first field tour in Jahra Governorate, carried out by the specialized supervisory team, involved on-site inspections of several areas and locations where violations were observed, with appropriate measures taken. The tour resulted in issuing three violation notices for unauthorized commercial use and four warnings for construction violations involving storage outside property boundaries, consisting of fixed rooms in the Umghara area.

The administration indicated that the first tour would be followed by several additional field tours across all governorates according to a schedule prepared by the Public Relations Department in coordination with relevant administrations to implement these tours over the coming weeks.
