Arab and International Condemnation of Houthi Attack on King Khalid Airport

The attack launched by Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has sparked a wave of Arab and international condemnation, emphasizing that targeting civilian infrastructure and endangering the lives of travelers and workers constitutes a violation of international law and threatens regional security and the safety of air navigation.

The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that the attack on the airport resulted in 12 deaths and 309 injuries. Meanwhile, international capitals and organizations called for an immediate halt to the attacks, affirming their support for the Kingdom in safeguarding its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio strongly condemned the attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias against Saudi Arabia, including the targeting of King Khalid International Airport. He stressed that these attacks reflect a blatant disregard for the lives of innocent civilians and must stop immediately.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres strongly condemned the attack on King Khalid International Airport, expressing shock at the assault that killed 12 people and injured hundreds of civilians.

In his capacity as the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg described the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security, perpetuates cycles of violence, and complicates peace efforts in Yemen.

The Yemeni government strongly condemned the terrorist attack targeting King Khalid International Airport, describing it as “a dangerous hostile escalation that embodies the determination of Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias to target civilian infrastructure and endanger civilian lives.”

The Yemeni government reaffirmed its appreciation for the pivotal role played by Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen, leading its legitimate authority, and backing its people in restoring their state and institutions. It emphasized that the attacks would not undermine the strong fraternal relations and shared destiny between the two countries, nor would they deter Yemenis from continuing their efforts to restore state institutions and end the Houthi coup.

Jassem Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), strongly condemned the terrorist attacks launched by Houthi militias on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, stressing that the repeated targeting of this civilian facility reflects a criminal approach aimed at terrorizing the innocent and endangering the lives of travelers and workers.
