Kuwait participates in Gulf meeting to enhance economic and developmental integration

Kuwait participated yesterday, Sunday, in the tenth meeting of the Standing Preparatory Committee at the ministerial level of the Economic and Development Affairs Body of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in the Bahraini capital of Manama, presided over by Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment and Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq.
The meeting, chaired by Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and attended by GCC ministers of economy and GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Budaiwi, discussed a number of common files aimed at advancing the process of economic and developmental integration among the GCC member states.
The agenda was dominated by follow-up on the completion of the roadmap to achieve Gulf economic unity, alongside a review of developments in the implementation of the timeline for building the Gulf economic model, which supports coordination among member states and strengthens the interconnection of their economies.
The ministers also discussed updates on the “Envisioning the Future Horizons of Economic and Developmental Integration 2027” program, as well as studies and projects monitored by the office of the Economic and Development Affairs Body. They further examined the proposed concept for organizing crisis simulation training programs, aimed at enhancing the readiness of GCC countries to deal with potential challenges.
Participants affirmed their consensus on the topics under discussion, emphasizing the importance of continuing economic coordination and cooperation in line with the aspirations of the GCC heads of state to achieve greater integration in joint Gulf efforts and to enhance the capacity to confront crises.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the ministers agreed to submit recommendations to the Economic and Development Affairs Body, with a view to monitoring their implementation as part of efforts to develop economic and developmental cooperation and strengthen shared interests among the Gulf countries.
