Two pedestrian bridges in Kabd area
The Official Gazette, “Kuwait Today,” published an announcement by the Ministry of Public Works regarding a public tender, number “Heh T/331,” for the construction, completion, and maintenance of roads, services, two vehicle bridges, and two pedestrian bridges in the Kabd area, with an implementation period of 36 months.
In detail, the announcement stated that the project aims to directly benefit three projects: South Saad Al-Abdullah City, West Abdullah Al-Mubarak City, and Al-Shadadiya Industrial City. This is to ensure smooth traffic flow, facilitate movement for residents of adjacent areas, and increase the capacity of surrounding bridges and roads to accommodate vehicles and traffic density. The project also includes establishing new services for rainwater drainage channels to reduce asphalt deterioration caused by water accumulation on roads, as well as preventing future flash floods.
According to the announcement, the scope of work includes completing the route of Ring Road 6.5 from Kabd Al-Salibiyah Road to Salima Road, and connecting the area to surrounding main roads (the Sixth and Seventh Ring Roads and Salima Road) to facilitate traffic movement to and from it, and developing the area, especially with the development of new residential areas with high population density, such as South Saad Al-Abdullah Residential City and West Abdullah Al-Mubarak City.
The announcement continued: developing existing and proposed roads to connect industrial areas and cities (Al-Shadadiya Industrial City); developing existing roads and services for farms, sewage treatment stations, oil well areas, water well areas, and industrial zones; designing safe alternative roads for existing unsuitable roads that pose serious risks to their users; and developing the Al-Harfiyin Industrial area in former Al-Salibiyah farms, currently known as the Kabd area.
On another note, the Ministry of Public Works announced the closure of Street 5 in Block 5 in the Sura area, starting from yesterday, Sunday, October 11, 2026, until Tuesday, October 20, 2026, to carry out asphalt replacement works.
