The Official Gazette, “Kuwait Today,” published an announcement by the Ministry of Public Works regarding the launch of public tender No. H.T/331 for the implementation of the construction, completion, and maintenance of roads and services in the Kabd area. The project includes the construction of two vehicular bridges and two pedestrian bridges, with an execution period of 36 months.
The project aims to improve traffic flow and enhance the efficiency of the surrounding road network, thereby serving the South Saad Al-Abdullah residential city, the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak city, and the Shaddadiya industrial city. It seeks to facilitate the movement of residents and road users, and to increase the capacity of roads and bridges to accommodate expected traffic density.
The scope of work includes completing the 6.5-kilometer segment of the 6th Ring Road from the Kabd Al-Salibiyah Road to the Salim Al-Salim Road, and connecting the area to the main surrounding road network, including the 6th and 7th Ring Roads and the Salim Al-Salim Road. This aims to facilitate access to and egress from the area and strengthen connectivity between residential and industrial zones.
The project also involves developing existing and proposed roads to link industrial areas and cities, primarily the Shaddadiya industrial city, alongside upgrading roads and services related to farms, sewage treatment stations, oil wells, water wells, and industrial zones.
Furthermore, the project targets providing safer alternative routes to replace existing unsuitable roads, thereby reducing risks to users. It also includes the development of the artisans’ industrial area in the former Salim Al-Salim farms, currently known as the Kabd area.
As part of infrastructure improvements, the works include introducing stormwater drainage services to prevent water accumulation on roads. This will help reduce damage to the asphalt layer, enhance drainage efficiency, and mitigate the risks of future flash floods.
