US Imposes Sanctions on the International Criminal Court

The United States imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court, vowing to cripple its activities hours after the Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize to former ICC judge Navi Pillay. Washington justified these sanctions by citing its desire to defend American sovereignty and citizens against the threat posed by the International Criminal Court, according to a statement released by the State Department. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, “Either the International Criminal Court will end its threats, or we will end the Court.”
