Inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with relevant authorities resulted in the seizure of various violations at several commercial establishments in the Capital and Ahmadi governorates, with 22 official seizure reports issued against the violators.
In the Capital governorate, inspection teams seized approximately 25,000 pieces of “chewing tobacco” during a round of inspections at several grocery stores, as it is among the goods prohibited from import, display, marketing, or circulation, in accordance with the provisions of Ministerial Decision No. 216 of 2014. The round, conducted by the emergency team of the Capital and Hawalli governorates (“Shift A”) as part of joint campaigns, resulted in the issuance of three seizure reports and the taking of necessary legal action against the violators.
In the Ahmadi governorate, the inspection team conducted a supervisory round at several commercial establishments in the Khiran Al-Bahri area, resulting in the issuance of 19 seizure reports for various violations. The most prominent violations included the seizure of counterfeit goods, conducting discounts and promotional offers without prior licensing, as well as failing to clearly and visibly display product prices to consumers. Additionally, there were violations related to the regulations governing the sale and circulation of energy drinks.
The Ministry confirmed that the prescribed legal measures have been taken against the violators, as part of its supervisory efforts to monitor markets and ensure that commercial establishments comply with applicable requirements and regulations.
