Al-Bisiss: Dialogue with Charitable Institutions Enhances Integration and Consolidates Governance and Transparency

Kuwait Charity Al-Awazim participated in a special meeting to discuss the law regulating charitable and humanitarian work, attended by H.E. Dr. Amthal Hadi Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, along with several ministry leaders and representatives of charitable associations and foundations.

Al-Basiss stated that Al-Awazim Charity’s participation in the meeting stems from its commitment to actively contributing to dialogues aimed at developing the regulatory environment for Kuwaiti charitable work. He praised Minister Al-Huwail’s willingness to listen to the views of charitable institutions and discuss their proposals, which enhances institutional integration and reinforces the principles of governance, transparency, and accountability.

He clarified that the meeting, attended by Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Development and Social Care Sector Eman Al-Anzi, Director of the Charitable Associations and Foundations Department Abdulmohsen Al-Mukhail, alongside representatives of charitable associations and foundations, provided an important platform for dialogue and exchanging perspectives on the legislation governing charitable and humanitarian work and ways to develop it.

Al-Basiss noted that he raised a question during the meeting regarding the possibility of dedicating a separate chapter in the executive regulations to provisions concerning foundations, taking into account their institutional nature, specificity, and differences from associations, within the framework of the law’s provisions. This would contribute to procedural clarity and support performance efficiency and the sustainability of giving.

He affirmed that Al-Awazim Charity pays close attention to every step that could develop Kuwaiti charitable work and enhance its efficiency, commending the cooperation and dialogue between the Ministry of Social Affairs and sector institutions, which safeguards the trajectory of humanitarian work and strengthens trust in its institutions.

Al-Basiss extended his thanks and appreciation to Minister Al-Huwail, leaders of the Ministry of Social Affairs, and those responsible for the meeting, for their efforts in developing the charitable and humanitarian work system, reaffirming Al-Awazim’s commitment to continuing its role in serving society and contributing to consolidating Kuwait’s humanitarian standing.

Disseminating Waqf Knowledge

On the sidelines of the meeting, and in continuation of Al-Awazim Charity’s role in supporting knowledge and disseminating waqf (endowment) awareness, Al-Basiss presented copies of the book “Waqf,” for which the charity fully sponsored the printing of 2,000 copies on the occasion of the conference “Innovation Strategies in Islamic Waqf and Sustainable Development,” to several leaders and representatives of charitable institutions, including Eman Al-Anzi, Abdulmohsen Al-Mukhail, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sumait, Director General of the Islamic World Charity Organization, Ibrahim Al-Kandari, President of Al-Kanader Charity Foundation, and Dr. Jaber Al-Waned, Director General of Al-Najah Charity Association.

Al-Basiss emphasized that this initiative aligns with Al-Awazim Charity’s approach of supporting waqf knowledge and enhancing the exchange of expertise among charitable institutions. He praised the role of Fanar Center in printing, documenting, and disseminating the book, as well as the role of the Regional Network for Corporate Social Responsibility in organizing the conference in partnership with the charity, contributing to enriching scientific dialogue on waqf and sustainable development and enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of charitable work.
