The Yemeni Embassy in the State of Kuwait confirmed that the comprehensive military operation “Fajr al-Yemen” was launched in implementation of the decision by the Presidential Leadership Council, led by Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, with full support from the brothers in the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy. This strategic operation represents a decisive turning point toward restoring state institutions, extending national sovereignty over the entire Yemeni territory, and ending the prolonged suffering of the Yemeni people caused by Houthi intransigence.
First: Political Stance and Timing
The decision to launch the military operation came after the state had exhausted all political, regional, and international diplomatic efforts and opportunities to achieve peace. The Houthi coup militias continued their reckless military escalation and constant threats to international shipping lanes and neighboring countries. The Embassy emphasizes that the option of military resolution has become imperative to protect the Yemeni people’s assets and safeguard Arab national security.
Second: Strategic Objectives of the “Fajr al-Yemen” Operation
1. Ending the coup and restoring state institutions: Extending the authority of the legitimate government over all Yemeni governorates, foremost among them the kidnapped capital, Sana’a.
2. Securing international waterways: Protecting the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the southern Red Sea from Houthi terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of global trade.
3. Destroying the militias’ military capabilities: Neutralizing offensive defense systems, drone aviation, missile launchers, and torpedo boat storage facilities.
Third: Field Situation and Achieved Military Achievements
During the first 24 hours of the operation’s launch, the Yemeni Armed Forces and joint forces achieved rapid and simultaneous field accomplishments as follows:
• Western Coast Axis: Complete control over the Dhubab directorate and its military airport, securing Mayun (Perim) Island, Al-Amri Camp, and Kahbob Mountains, thereby ensuring full security for the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.
• City and Port of Al-Mukha: A successful tactical flanking operation led to the complete clearance of the city and port of Al-Mukha, cutting off enemy supply lines.
• Sana’a Capital Front: The commencement of a comprehensive strategic offensive, supported by advanced military systems, directed toward the depths of the capital.
• Al-Jawf, Marib, and Hodeidah Axes: Control over the Al-Nudur and Al-Haseef areas (Al-Jawf), and the Al-Faliha and Qurun al-Bur areas (southern Marib), along with delivering crushing blows to the militias in Haraz.
Fourth: Air Support and Militia Casualties
Under intensive air cover and with the participation of 100 fighter jets from the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy, 324 strategic targets and high-value military sites belonging to the militias were targeted. These airstrikes, combined with land and sea operations, resulted in:
• Neutralizing 1,747 Houthi elements, killed or wounded.
• Destroying and damaging 364 military vehicles and equipment.
• Capturing large numbers of militia elements besieged in Dhubab, while others fled via the sea.
Fifth: Valuing the Kuwaiti and Gulf Role
The Yemeni Embassy seizes this opportunity to reiterate the profound appreciation and gratitude of the Republic of Yemen, its leadership, government, and people, for the steadfast and noble fraternal positions of the sisterly State of Kuwait, its Amir, government, and people, and its continuous support for the Yemeni people across various stages and circumstances. This support reflects the deep historical relations and shared destiny between the two brotherly nations in facing challenges that threaten regional security and stability.
The Embassy expresses its full confidence that Kuwaiti media and press, known for their professionalism and Arab responsibility, will, as usual, serve as an honest voice and a pillar in highlighting these national victories, which serve the interests of Gulf and Arab national security as a whole.
