Cabinet Holds Weekly Meeting Chaired by Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah

A significant statement from the CEO of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, as reported by Bloomberg, in which he said that Kuwait is currently pumping oil at about 75% of the level it was at before the outbreak of the war with Iran, and confirmed that Kuwait is currently producing around two million barrels per day, compared to about 2.6 million barrels before the war. Also important in his remarks was his insistence that there is no alternative to the Strait of Hormuz, and that no pipeline being built or storage facility constructed can replace the vital importance of the Strait of Hormuz. This is a logical and measured statement that reflects an accurate understanding of reality and underscores that a military solution is not viable for ending the crisis; there is no alternative to sitting at the negotiating table for direct talks and resolving the conflict.
