Kuwait condemns Houthi attacks and affirms that Saudi security is part of its own

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the ongoing attacks by the Houthi militia on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its firm rejection of any infringement on Islamic holy sites or threats to the security and stability of the Kingdom.
In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry said these attacks constitute a provocation of Muslim sentiments and a violation of the sanctity of holy sites, as well as targeting the capital Riyadh, several Saudi cities, civilians, civilian and economic assets, and ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, thereby threatening regional security and the safety of maritime navigation.
Kuwait reiterated its rejection of the recurrence of such hostile acts, considering them a violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a breach of international law and international humanitarian law.
The ministry renewed Kuwait’s support for the legitimate Yemeni government and its commitment to Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, commending Saudi efforts since 2014 to support initiatives aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement of the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the three reference points.
Kuwait called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and implement its relevant resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817.
The ministry emphasized Kuwait’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its standing by its side, supporting the measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, citizens, and residents on its territory, and affirmed that the security of the Kingdom is “an inseparable part” of the security of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
