Dr. Mariam Mansouri, Head of the Public Health Services Department in the Hawalli Health Region, stated that travel medicine is not limited to administering vaccinations; it relies on assessing each traveler’s health risks according to their destination, trip duration, nature of travel, and health status, in order to determine appropriate preventive measures.
She added that the clinic’s opening aligns with the Ministry’s strategy to develop preventive services and expand their accessibility to citizens and residents. She noted the growing importance of travel health services amid rising travel volumes and diverse destinations, emphasizing the need to begin health preparations well in advance of the trip.
The accompanying exhibition covered all stages of travel health, from pre-travel preparation, through preventive practices during the journey, to managing potential health symptoms and risks after returning. It also addressed topics such as vaccinations, nutrition, food safety, nursing, pharmacy, and infection prevention.
The Ministry of Health provides travel health services through nine clinics distributed across various governorates, enabling travelers to access assessment, consultation, vaccination, and health awareness services before departure.
