America and Iran Reach a 'Dead End'

Top U.S. National Security Council officials under President Donald Trump held a closed, unannounced meeting that lasted several hours at Camp David on the day before yesterday to discuss the next steps in the war against Iran and the escalating conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi rebels in Yemen. According to media reports, negotiations with Iran have reached a “dead end,” while Trump is considering the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations against Tehran if no agreement is reached. For his part, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that Iran would not be able, for the first time since it began exporting oil, to transport any oil through the sea this week, emphasizing that the United States had facilitated the passage of 1.1 billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran had been unable to move a single barrel of its own oil.
