A specialized economic report stated on Saturday that the liquidity volume of the Kuwait Stock Exchange during the first nine months of the current year, which saw 181 trading days, reached approximately 15.6 billion dinars, equivalent to about 47.8 billion dollars.
The "Al-Shal Consultations" report said that the average daily trading value during the period stood at approximately 86.5 million dinars, or about 265.5 million dollars, down by roughly 19.1 percent compared to the average daily trading value for the same period in 2025, which was around 106.9 million dinars. It also declined by 19.7 percent compared to the 2025 average of approximately 107.6 million dinars.
The report clarified that the stock exchange’s performance in September was mixed compared to August; while the average daily trading value increased, all market indices posted negative performance. The "First Market" index fell by about 1.3 percent, the "Main" index by 1.5 percent, and the "General" index by 1.3 percent, while the "Main 50" index dropped by approximately 7.1 percent.
It noted that stock exchange liquidity rose in September compared to August, reaching about 2.448 billion dinars, up from 1.777 billion dinars, an increase of 37.7 percent.
It added that the average daily trading value in September reached approximately 111.3 million dinars, a 31.5 percent rise from August’s level of about 84.6 million dinars.
The report emphasized that liquidity trends since the beginning of the year indicate that approximately half of the listed companies accounted for only 8.1 percent of total liquidity, including 50 companies that captured just 3.3 percent, while two companies saw no trading activity.
It explained that 12 relatively small and liquid companies, whose market capitalization represents about 3.8 percent of the total value of listed companies, accounted for approximately 19.9 percent of the stock exchange’s liquidity, equivalent to 5.3 times their share in market capitalization.
The report stated that this means significant liquidity activity still excludes about half of the listed companies, while strongly favoring companies with minimal market capitalization.
According to the report, the "First Market" received about 1.2 billion dinars, or 51.1 percent of the stock exchange’s liquidity, with approximately half of its companies capturing 76.6 percent of that liquidity, equivalent to 39.1 percent of the total stock exchange liquidity, while the other half received the remaining 23.4 percent.
Conversely, the "Main Market" received about 1.1 billion dinars, or 48.9 percent of the stock exchange’s liquidity, with 20 percent of its companies capturing 72.1 percent of its liquidity, while 80 percent of its companies received about 27.9 percent, reflecting, according to the report, a high level of liquidity concentration as well.
The report showed that the Main Market’s share of total stock exchange trading value during the first nine months of the current year reached approximately 36.1 percent.
In a comparison of liquidity distribution between the First and Main Markets, the report pointed out that the Main Market’s share of total liquidity during the period from 2026 declined compared to the same period in 2025, when the "First Market" accounted for 56.7 percent, compared to 43.3 percent for the Main Market.
