Third Phase of 'Martyr's Garden' Inaugurated Under Amir's Patronage
Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and in the presence of his representative, His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the opening ceremony of the third phase of “Al-Shaheed Park” was held at Al-Sour Theater, marking an occasion that blends national, cultural, and artistic dimensions.
The Amir’s representative unveiled the memorial monument, signaling the official opening of the third phase of the project, attended by a number of senior state officials and members of the committee overseeing the project’s supervision, management, and follow-up.
The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by recitations from the Holy Quran. Then, the Minister of the Diwan Amiri Affairs, Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali, delivered a speech in which he extended his highest expressions of gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Amir for patronizing the event. He emphasized that the opening of the new phase embodies the attention given to national and developmental projects and supports progress in various fields.
Sheikh Hamad Al-Ali stated that the third phase represents an extension of this national landmark, enhancing its role as a space that brings together culture, entertainment, and community engagement. He noted that the project is part of several developmental initiatives constructed by the Diwan Amiri, including the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center, the Bayt Al-Qura (Palace of Peace) Museum, and Kuwait Motorsports City.
He added that while these projects vary in their fields, they share common goals aimed at serving society, improving the quality of life, and meeting the aspirations of citizens and residents. He pointed out that they are part of an urban renaissance aimed at providing a modern environment for creators and the public, reflecting Kuwait’s history and future aspirations.
Sheikh Hamad Al-Ali affirmed that these achievements are the result of directives and support for national projects, highlighting the attention and encouragement given to Kuwaiti youth to take initiative, demonstrate creativity, and assume responsibility, as they are a key partner in shaping the future.
He commended the efforts of those involved in the third phase of “Al-Shaheed Park,” led by the Deputy Minister of the Diwan Amiri and General Supervisor of the Project, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Mutairi; the Chairperson of the Supervision, Management, and Follow-up Committee, Anwar Al-Yatama; the Committee’s Vice Chairman, Khaled Al-Filakaawi; all work teams; and the companies sponsoring the project.
For her part, Anwar Al-Yatama, Chairperson of the Supervision, Management, and Follow-up Committee for the third phase, stated that the opening represents a national and cultural occasion added to Kuwait’s civilizational journey. She noted that the project includes a new cultural and artistic edifice, namely “Al-Sour Theater.”
She emphasized that the project combines national memory, the present, and the aspirations of future generations, praising the efforts of artists, celebrities, participants, work teams, government entities, and institutions that contributed to the success of the event.
Al-Yatama pointed out that the artistic activities at Al-Sour Theater launched with the national theatrical performance “Al-Sour,” which evokes the history of Kuwait’s walls and the values of unity, solidarity, and loyalty to the homeland associated with them.
The ceremony concluded with reaffirmations of the continued support for cultural, artistic, and developmental projects, which enhance Kuwait’s cultural presence and align with its future aspirations.
