Al-Awazim Foundation Hosts Conference on 'Innovation Strategies in Islamic Waqf and Sustainable Development'
The Al-Awazim Charity Foundation concluded the activities of the Second 2026 Conference on “Innovation Strategies in Islamic Waqf and Sustainable Development,” held at the Kuwait National Library under the patronage of Dr. Amthal Hadi Al-Hawila, Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Social Development, with broad participation from government and charitable entities, the private sector, and a select group of experts and specialists from Kuwait and several Gulf and Arab countries.
Conference Chairman and Chairman of the Al-Awazim Charity Foundation, Advisor Hamad Zaid Al-Bassis, stated that the conference discussed ways to develop waqf operations and harness innovation in the management and investment of waqf assets to enhance their sustainability and maximize their developmental impact, emphasizing the importance of developing waqf instruments while preserving their Sharia-compliant mission and their role in serving humanity and society.
He added that the conference, organized by the foundation in collaboration with the Regional Network for Corporate Social Responsibility, the Global Center for Sustainable Development, and the Institute for Excellence in Training and Consulting, reflected the importance of building partnerships and exchanging expertise to develop a more efficient and sustainable waqf system.
The conference featured the honoring of several prominent figures and leaders supporting charitable and waqf initiatives under the “International Honor Award for Islamic Waqf and Sustainable Development” and the “Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Responsibility.” Additionally, the Al-Awazim Charity Foundation received the International Compliance Certificate for the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Al-Bassis affirmed that the foundation would continue to support distinctive waqf initiatives and promote a culture of innovation and sustainability, contributing to the growth of waqf resources, maximizing their impact, and ensuring their enduring contributions to future generations.
