Prince Sultan bin Saad: Kuwaiti-Saudi relations are rooted in more than 150 years
The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Kuwait, His Highness Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khalid Al Saud, described Kuwaiti-Saudi relations as an exceptional model that transcends political, economic, and social frameworks. He emphasized that these ties have endured for over 150 years and have been solidified through various circumstances and changes.
Speaking in a phone interview with Al-Akhbariya Channel, Prince Sultan bin Saad stated that relations between the two countries cannot be confined to a traditional diplomatic framework, given the deep historical and social bonds uniting their peoples. He noted that religion, customs, traditions, social values, along with generosity, chivalry, and nobility, constitute the most prominent common denominators between them.
Celebrating with a “Different Flavor”
Regarding the Saudi National Day, he clarified that the occasion serves as an opportunity to recall the nation-building journey led by the Founding King, Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, and the subsequent stages of construction and development that contributed to shaping the modern state.
He pointed out that celebrating this occasion in Kuwait carries additional significance, stating, “From here, in Kuwait, the journey of unifying the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began; therefore, celebrating it in Kuwait has a different flavor.”
He expressed his hope for the continuation of shared joys and occasions between the Kingdom, Kuwait, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, affirming that the bonds uniting the peoples of the region make their national occasions a source of shared happiness.
Unification as the Foundation of Nation-Building
The Saudi Ambassador recalled King Abdulaziz’s vision for unifying the country, considering this step as the foundation for building a stable state capable of continuing development. He noted that the Kingdom’s journey has continued through successive stages of construction and development, leading to the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
He stated that the experience of building nations relies on clear vision, willpower, investment in human capital, and sustained effort, highlighting that the Saudi citizen represents one of the fruits of this journey, having achieved prominence and distinction in various fields.
Development as an Extension of Nation-Building
Regarding the developments witnessed by the Kingdom, Prince Sultan bin Saad explained that the current renaissance is the result of an accumulative process that began since the founding era, encompassing investment in human resources, the economy, infrastructure, and continuous planning.
He added that the Kingdom continues to build upon achievements realized across generations, with “Saudi Vision 2030” representing an extension of this approach by enhancing the capabilities of Saudi citizens, supporting the national economy, and continuing the development journey.
