Kuwait's Awqaf and the Commission Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in Humanitarian and Community Fields

Kuwaiti Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Al-Wasmi, met with Dr. Khalid Khalifa, Advisor to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and Representative of the UNHCR to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in humanitarian and community-related fields.

In a statement issued on Wednesday to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs noted that the meeting addressed areas of coordination and joint work, as well as the ministry’s role in supporting values of mutual support, compassion, and coexistence, and strengthening its presence in the community sector.

The ministry added that both sides discussed supporting related humanitarian and awareness-raising initiatives, exchanging expertise, and expanding areas of cooperation to bolster humanitarian efforts and reinforce the concept of corporate social responsibility.

The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying the UNHCR representative, during which participants explored opportunities to develop cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
