The Municipal Council, during its meeting yesterday, approved allocating a site covering 20,000 square meters in the Granada area, within the Salwa Coast zone, to establish a specialized center for treating multiple sclerosis patients, in implementation of the Cabinet’s decision to accept the donation offered by Kuwait Finance House for the establishment of the center.

Muhandisa Munira Al-Amir, head of the Technical Committee at the Municipal Council, stated that the approval included creating a new entrance and exit for the site, while adhering to the technical and regulatory requirements associated with it. She noted that the site is located near the Abdullah Al-Saleh Natural Park and the Kuwaiti Association for Child Care.

The Council stipulated the provision of necessary parking spaces within the site’s boundaries, submission of a traffic study prior to licensing, along with a report assessing the environmental and social impact in accordance with the Environmental Protection Law, and compliance with the conditions set by the Sub-Committee for Utilities and Public Services, coordinating with them prior to implementation.

In another decision, the Committee approved allocating Plot No. 162 in the Second Shuwaikh Industrial Area, covering 22,500 square meters, to the Ministry of Health for use in insect and rodent control services. It allowed for regulatory modifications to the site’s dimensions in case of conflict with infrastructure services, provided that the approved area is not exceeded.

The Committee also approved modifying the allocation of the Police Cavalry and Mounted Police headquarters in the Central District to become the headquarters of the Police Sports Union, expanding the site from 75,000 to approximately 102,000 square meters to accommodate sports fields and facilitate athletic activities.

The approval included relocating the existing service road between the site and the Arab Horse site, with a minimum width of 17 meters, maintaining a 4-meter setback, submitting a detailed traffic study before finalizing the site allocation, and complying with the requirements of service authorities.

On the regulatory front, the Technical Committee approved amending Articles Two and Eight of Ministerial Decision No. 322 of 2023 concerning the system for land subdivision and partitioning for construction purposes and its amendments, to reorganize the documents and procedures required for subdivision and partitioning applications.

The amendment includes regulating ownership documentation and certificates related to real rights, notifying holders of such rights when applicable, and specifying procedures for portions that revert to the State following the approval of subdivision and partitioning projects.

Al-Amir emphasized that the Committee continues to review referred transactions within technical, legal, and regulatory frameworks, taking into account infrastructure requirements, environmental, and traffic studies, thereby supporting health, service, and sports projects and improving the organization of land use.
