Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, confirmed on Tuesday that developing modern and sustainable transport infrastructure is a cornerstone for achieving the goals of “Kuwait Vision 2035,” noting that sustainable transport is based on balancing environmental responsibility, economic viability, accessibility, and operational efficiency.

This statement was made in the address delivered by Kuwait, presented by Minister Al-Mashaan at the 2026 Global Forum on Sustainable Transport, organized by China’s Ministry of Transport in Beijing under the theme “Sustainable Transport: Easier Mobility for People and Smoother Flow of Goods.” The forum was attended by Chinese Minister of Transport Liu Wei, along with transport ministers and heads of delegations from various countries worldwide, as well as representatives of international organizations.

The forum aims to enhance international cooperation in the field of sustainable transport and facilitate the exchange of expertise and experiences among countries, thereby contributing to the development of more efficient and sustainable transport systems.

Minister Al-Mashaan stated that Kuwait’s approach focuses on building an integrated transport system based on connectivity, accessibility, economic efficiency, environmental responsibility, and long-term sustainability.

The forum discusses five main pillars: deepening global initiatives and enhancing connectivity; building an integrated transport system; prioritizing green transport; transforming the transport sector through the application of artificial intelligence; and ensuring universal access to sustainable transport services.

Organized by the Global Center for Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge under China’s Ministry of Transport, the forum aligns with efforts to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030, as well as the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport 2026–2035. It aims to build international consensus on a safe, efficient, green, inclusive, and resilient transport system.
