Yemeni government forces intensify strikes against the Houthis on multiple fronts
Yemeni government forces have intensified their military operations against the Houthi militia across several fronts, backed by air raids, artillery strikes, and drone attacks targeting the group’s positions and concentrations in Marib, Al Jawf, and Taiz. This escalation follows the Houthis’ expansion along the western coast and their takeover of Al Mokha and areas overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The escalation coincided with the movement of Houthi reinforcements from Sanaa toward Marib. Meanwhile, government forces continued to pressure Houthi fighters besieged in the Al Labanat camp in Al Jawf governorate, while warplanes focused their strikes on Houthi positions and movements in Al Mokha and Dhu Ab, following the group’s spread across wide areas of the western coast.
Many residents in western Taiz and southern Al Hudaydah had no choice but to flee, after a campaign of raids and arrests carried out by the Houthi militia in villages and populated areas they entered, amid fears of retaliatory acts and looting targeting civilians and their property.
According to military sources, air raids, artillery shelling, and drone strikes targeted Houthi positions and concentrations on the southern, northern, and western fronts, while the group deployed reinforcements from Sanaa, comprising dozens of vehicles and personnel, toward the province. In Al Jawf, government forces continued to besiege Houthi elements inside the Al Labanat camp for the sixth day, alongside targeting Houthi reinforcements and positions east of Al Hazm city, in an effort to consolidate field gains achieved over the past days.
In Taiz, field sources reported Houthi concentrations in Sam’a, Ad Dimna, Ar Rahidah, and areas of Jabal Habashi, amid ongoing clashes and military pressure on the group in the western part of the governorate. On the western coast, airstrikes focused on Houthi positions in Al Mokha and Dhu Ab, including the port, airport, Jabal Al Nar, and movements along the road leading to Bab al-Mandab.
