With the launch of the new academic year, the community’s responsibility to support students and provide the foundations for their success is renewed, particularly for children of low-income families and orphans. Officials from the Union of Charitable Societies and Orphanages, Al-Isalah Social Association, and Namaa Charitable Organization emphasized that educational initiatives embody the proximity of charitable work to societal needs, affirming that supporting education represents an investment in human capital and a foundation for a more stable future, while reinforcing values of solidarity and localizing philanthropy.
Saud Marzouq Al-Otaibi, President of the Union of Charitable Societies and Orphanages, stated that the beginning of the academic year marks an important milestone for renewing attention to students and supporting their educational journey. He noted that the engagement of societies and orphanages with the needs of families and students reflects the commitment of Kuwait’s charitable sector to keep pace with societal needs and respond to its priorities.
Al-Otaibi said that initiatives targeting orphans and children of low-income families, which include providing school supplies and supporting families, demonstrate that charitable work is based on identifying real needs and directing resources to areas that directly impact beneficiaries’ lives. He highlighted that education is among the most critical of these areas due to its role in building human capacity and enhancing capabilities.
He added that the diversity of educational initiatives reflects a true image of community solidarity, confirming that charitable institutions work to keep pace with societal needs and provide timely solutions. He stressed that localizing charitable work strengthens the presence of institutions within society, enabling them to understand its needs and build initiatives more closely aligned with reality.
Al-Otaibi concluded by emphasizing that the start of the academic year goes beyond returning to classrooms; it is a new beginning for students’ dreams and aspirations. He called for continued support for educational initiatives, affirming that investing in human capital remains one of the highest forms of giving and the most sustainable.
For his part, Abdulrahman Al-Shatti, Director of Public Relations and Media at Al-Isalah Social Association, stated that the beginning of the academic year represents an important moment when hopes and aspirations are renewed. He highlighted the importance of societal institutions and individuals uniting to support students and provide an environment that helps them start the school year with confidence and stability.
Al-Shatti said the association continues its role in caring for students within Kuwait through student sponsorship programs, supporting orphans and children of low-income families, and distributing school bags and essential school supplies, thereby alleviating the burdens associated with the start of the school year for families.
He added that student sponsorship is not limited to providing financial support but also involves standing by students, meeting their educational needs, and enhancing their sense of security and confidence. He explained that while a school bag may seem like a simple need, it carries great meaning for a student who feels that someone cares about them and ensures they can start the school year without financial circumstances being an obstacle.
Al-Shatti affirmed that supporting students goes beyond providing school supplies to enhancing self-confidence, motivating success, and instilling the value of knowledge. He called on people of goodwill to support student sponsorship initiatives and provide school bags and supplies, emphasizing that every individual’s contribution can make a difference in a student’s life.
For his part, Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Namaa Charitable Organization within Al-Isalah Social Association, stated that the launch of the new academic year represents an important occasion to renew attention to students and support their educational journey. He noted that education is not merely academic achievement but an investment in human capital, building the capabilities of generations, and shaping a more stable future for society.
Al-Kandari said Namaa Charitable Organization strives, through its initiatives and programs, to support students, particularly orphans and children of low-income families, and to alleviate the burdens families face at the start of the school year. This enables students to begin the school year in more stable conditions and gives them the motivation to continue their educational journey with confidence and ambition.
He added that these initiatives align with Namaa’s commitment to localizing charitable work by getting closer to societal needs, identifying the actual priorities of families and students, and directing resources to areas that achieve direct and tangible impact. He affirmed that local charitable work represents an important path to enhancing solidarity and serving people within the country.
Al-Kandari clarified that localizing charitable work does not mean restricting giving geographically, but rather developing institutions’ capacity to understand the reality and needs of society and build initiatives that respond to them efficiently. He noted that giving related to education transforms into a lasting impact, as supporting a student today contributes to building a person capable of giving back and serving their community in the future.
