Red Crescent launches first aid awareness campaign at The Avenues

The Kuwait Red Crescent Society launched, yesterday, an event for World First Aid Day at The Avenues Mall, aiming to raise community awareness of the importance of first aid and to disseminate basic skills for responding to emergencies.

Khaled Al-Mughamsis, Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors, told KUNA that possessing first aid skills can help save lives and reduce the complications of injuries until specialized medical teams arrive. He emphasized that this knowledge is fundamental and should be available across all segments of society, not limited to healthcare workers.

He explained that the Society organizes training courses and programs for volunteers, the public, and various institutions, covering initial assessment of the injured, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and management of bleeding, wounds, burns, and other cases requiring immediate intervention.

He noted that the Society has enhanced the readiness of its volunteers this year as part of emergency preparedness and response plans, through specialized workshops and courses on first aid and mechanisms for handling emergency cases.

Al-Mughamsis reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to expanding the scope of its training programs and strengthening cooperation with state institutions and various entities, to reach the widest possible audience, particularly youth, and to reinforce the concept of first aid as a community skill and shared responsibility that contributes to saving lives.
