Kuwait is sending a delegation of 120 athletes to compete in 16 sports at the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) in Japan, from September 19 to October 4. Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, stated that Kuwait’s participation represents “an important milestone for Kuwaiti sport and an opportunity to showcase the capabilities of Kuwaiti athletes at one of the largest sporting platforms in Asia.” The participation comes amid aspirations to achieve positive results against strong competition from elite Asian athletes and teams, in a Games attracting broad participation from across the continent. Kuwait will compete in 16 sports: shooting, athletics, football, golf, modern pentathlon, fencing, teqball, sport climbing, karate, equestrian, squash, jiu-jitsu, swimming, handball, padel, and sailing. Sheikh Fahad emphasized that the Kuwait Olympic Committee has been keen to provide the necessary resources to prepare the delegation and enable athletes to appear “in a dignified manner befitting the name of the State of Kuwait,” noting that the diversity of participation across team and individual events reflects the breadth of Kuwait’s presence at the Games.
