Ministry of Education Sets School Working Hours for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Khaled Al-Rashid issued a decision regarding the working hours for all stages of general education, as well as schools for the gifted, special education, religious education, and private schools (“Arab Schools”), effective from the start of the 2026/2027 academic year until further notice.

The decision set the working hours for kindergarten from 7:15 a.m. to 12:05 p.m., and for the primary stage from 7:15 a.m. to 1:25 p.m. The middle school shift begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 1:40 p.m.

As for the high school stage, classes begin at 7:45 a.m. and end at 1:55 p.m. Meanwhile, the high school “tracks” program, which operates on a credit-based system, starts at 7:30 a.m. and continues until 2:15 p.m. The schedule for schools for the gifted is set from 7:45 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.

According to the decision, the Special Education Schools Administration is responsible for preparing the working schedules for each school in accordance with its plan, provided that the start time for classes does not exceed the approved start time for general education schools across their various stages.

The Ministry emphasized that relevant authorities must adhere to the implementation of the decision and organize working hours to ensure the continuity of the educational process and the smooth operation of educational activities in line with approved plans as the new academic year begins.
