Yemeni Army advances west of Taiz Governorate

The Yemeni Armed Forces have regained control of the Taba site, a strategic reservoir in the Jabal Habashi district of western Taiz Governorate, during fierce clashes with the Houthi group, coinciding with intensified fighting on the Maqbana and Al-Kadha fronts and the arrival of military reinforcements for government forces. Official military sources stated that the Armed Forces continue to engage in fierce confrontations with the Houthis on the Maqbana and Al-Kadha fronts, as part of operations aimed at countering the group’s attacks and movements on the governorate’s western fronts.

In parallel with the ground escalation, the Houthis targeted a restaurant with a ballistic missile in the Mafraq Al-Mukha area, west of Taiz Governorate, resulting in civilian casualties and significant material damage to the restaurant and adjacent properties. The targeting of the restaurant comes amid a sustained Houthi escalation on the fronts of Taiz Governorate and the western coast, whether through military movements along contact lines or missile strikes that have hit the city of Al-Mukha and areas of the western coast.

The Yemeni Army announced that its warplanes launched more than 15 airstrikes targeting Houthi militia sites, concentrations, and vehicles on the western coast fronts in Taiz and Al-Hudaydah governorates. The media center of the Yemeni Armed Forces said in a statement published on its X (formerly Twitter) account that “the air force of our Armed Forces is targeting, through more than 15 airstrikes, sites, concentrations, and vehicles of the terrorist Houthi militia on the western coast fronts in Taiz and Al-Hudaydah governorates.”

This marks the first time the Yemeni Army has announced the use of its air force to target Houthi positions on the Taiz and Al-Hudaydah fronts, a notable development in the course of battles along the western coast.
