Electricity Authority Hosts GCC Interconnection Authority Delegation at Al-Wafra Power Station

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy hosted a delegation from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interconnection Authority at the Al-Wafra Power Station, as part of cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of expertise in the fields of electricity and the GCC power grid.

In a press statement yesterday, the ministry said the visit included a field tour of the Al-Wafra station, during which the GCC delegation reviewed the nature of operations and the station’s operational systems, as well as its role within the GCC power grid framework and its contribution to supporting energy exchange operations and enhancing the reliability and stability of the interconnection system among GCC member states.

The ministry noted that the visit also aimed to support joint efforts to develop the GCC power grid, improve its efficiency, and enhance its reliability.

The visiting delegation was led by Ahmed Al-Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of the GCC Interconnection Authority, Mohammed Al-Sheikh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Networks, Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Deputy Director of the Energy Department in Abu Dhabi, and Issa Al-Zarouni, Vice President for Operations at Emirates Water and Electricity Company.

The delegation was received by Hitham Al-Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Power Stations and Water Desalination at the ministry, Fatima Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Undersecretary for Monitoring and Control Centers, along with several ministry officials and engineers.
