Two Astronauts Successfully Complete Spacewalk Outside the International Space Station!

NASA announced that astronauts Jessica Meir and Sophie Adenot of the European Space Agency completed a spacewalk outside the International Space Station that lasted six hours and 49 minutes. NASA explained that the two astronauts installed a new reflector on the Harmony module to support spacecraft navigation during approach and docking operations. They also replaced a high-resolution camera on the station’s truss and conducted a survey of the exterior surface to detect microorganisms. Additionally, the astronauts partially completed the installation of wiring for electrical systems and began preparations for replacing a heat radiator associated with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer during a future spacewalk. This was Meir’s seventh and Adenot’s third spacewalk, and it marked the 284th spacewalk conducted to support the assembly, maintenance, and upgrade of the International Space Station.
