Al-Awadi launches the 'Winter Vaccinations' campaign at 90 health centers and a hospital

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi launched the winter vaccination campaign for the current season, attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Al-Mundhir Al-Hasawi, at the Mubarak Al-Hasawi Specialized Health Center in the Hittin area. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to enhance prevention against seasonal respiratory diseases and mitigate their complications, particularly among high-risk groups.

The Ministry clarified that the campaign includes vaccinations against seasonal influenza, as well as recommended vaccines to prevent pneumonia. It noted that vaccines are available to all citizens and residents at 90 health centers and hospitals distributed across various health regions in the country to facilitate access and utilization. The Ministry emphasized the importance of getting seasonal vaccinations, especially for the elderly, children, patients with chronic diseases, pregnant women, individuals with weakened immune systems, and healthcare workers.

For his part, Dr. Hamad Bastaki, Head of the Infectious Disease Control Department, affirmed that vaccinations represent the first line of defense against winter respiratory diseases, playing a pivotal role in reducing the likelihood of infection, lessening the severity of the illness and its complications, and lowering the rate of hospitalizations. Dr. Bastaki highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to making vaccines widely available across centers and hospitals, and urged high-risk groups to get vaccinated promptly.
