There may be no direct link between the catastrophic floods and the recent sectarian disturbances in Nepal, but social media has been abuzz with comments and debates on the matter over the past few days. Muslims in this Asian country constitute less than 5 percent of the predominantly Hindu population. Prior to the recent floods, which have claimed more than 600 lives so far, the country witnessed sectarian attacks against Muslims, targeting of mosques, and vandalism of Muslim-owned property. Allah the Almighty said: “And there is not a sign that We send except that the former people denied it. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.” Truth is spoken by Allah the Almighty.
