Ministry of Electricity and Water Participates in Paris 2026 Conference to Enhance Grid Sustainability

The State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, participated in the CIGRE Paris Session 2026, one of the world’s most prominent specialized gatherings on power systems, which brings together a select group of experts, specialists, and decision-makers from various countries.

The Kuwaiti delegation was led by Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Zamil, Deputy Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and included Eng. Adhari Al-Mohammad, Chairman of the CIGRE Gulf Board; Eng. Sanaa Al-Gharib, Member of the CIGRE Gulf Board; Dr. Abeer Al-Maimouni, representative of Kuwait University; alongside several ministry engineers and specialists in electricity and energy fields.

Modern Technologies and Digital Solutions

During its participation, the delegation reviewed the latest global studies and technologies related to the development and operation of power systems. Technical presentations covered battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid-forming technologies, as well as advanced monitoring, measurement, and control systems.

The delegation also discussed leading international experiences in electricity market management and energy exchange, along with modern digital solutions and mechanisms for the effective and safe integration of renewable energy sources into power grids.

330 Global Companies and Gulf Honor

On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation toured the accompanying technical exhibition, which featured participation by more than 330 specialized global companies. Delegation members reviewed the latest equipment and technical solutions in high and medium voltage fields, as well as digital protection and monitoring systems. The delegation also held a series of technical meetings with representatives of international institutions and companies to explore cooperation opportunities and exchange operational expertise.

A notable achievement of the participation was Dr. Adel Al-Zamil receiving, on behalf of the GCC Interconnection Authority and in his capacity as a member of its Board of Directors, the award for the best research paper submitted by the Authority, recognizing its outstanding technical and scientific contribution.

This participation aligns with the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy to keep pace with global developments and implement best practices and modern technologies, thereby supporting the enhancement of efficiency and sustainability of Kuwait’s power system.
