Significant decline in shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz

Preliminary shipping data released on Friday showed that seven bulk cargo ships transited the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, down from 17 ships the previous day and below the ten-day moving average of 15 ships. According to preliminary data from Kpler, a ship-tracking company, four ships exited the strait while three entered. These figures may change, as some vessels switch off their transponders during transit.

Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab

Iran crisis mediators have again focused on the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with Tehran agreeing to prepare a list of conditions to resume normal navigation, following confirmation by the Qatari Prime Minister during a visit to Iran of the importance of respecting freedom of navigation.

Meanwhile, 17 bulk cargo ships transited the vital Bab al-Mandab strait, with six entering and 11 exiting.
