Confiscation of 96 kg of adulterated and untraceable meat in Bubiyan
- Issued 11 violation reports covering various infractions, and identified violations related to health and hygiene requirements and workers’ health certificates.
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, represented by the Inspection Department of Hawalli Governorate, conducted inspection rounds at several food establishments to ensure compliance with approved health regulations and bylaws. The rounds resulted in the issuance of 11 violation reports for various infractions, the destruction of 96 kg of adulterated and unidentified meat, and the identification of violations concerning health and general hygiene requirements, as well as workers’ health certificates.
The Authority reaffirmed its ongoing supervisory efforts and the enhancement of inspection rounds across various governorates to safeguard consumer health and ensure the safety of food circulating in the markets.
Joint and random inspection rounds
For its part, the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition and the Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed on Tuesday the continuation of joint and random inspection rounds at cooperative societies to ensure their compliance with governing regulations, laws, and health requirements, in order to protect consumers’ safety and shareholders’ funds.
This came during a joint inspection visit conducted by the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dr. Sayed Eissa, and the Director General of Inspection and Supervision Affairs at the “Food” Authority, Dr. Saud Al-Jalal, at the Qadisiya Cooperative Society.
In a press statement, Eissa said the visit was part of random field inspections that included reviewing the receiving, delivery, and storage procedures for various food materials. He noted that the rounds would cover several cooperatives in the coming period to ensure the safety of their procedures and operations.
He explained that the participation of the “Food” Authority aims to inspect food materials, while the “Social Affairs” Ministry monitors the society’s compliance with regulations. He added that if serious financial or administrative violations are identified, audit committees will be formed and necessary measures taken, such as dismissing or dissolving boards of directors and appointing new ones to correct the course.
Eissa stressed that the law would be applied to everyone without exception, noting that the new Bylaw No. 196 of 2026 will represent a qualitative leap in services after the completion of the electronic platform, positively impacting citizens, traders, and investors.
For his part, Al-Jalal said in a similar statement that the inspection covered health requirements, hygiene levels, and storage methods in the society’s warehouses, with the aim of identifying and addressing any observations to protect consumers.
He added that some observations were recorded during the visit and that it is necessary to address them. The society will be visited again in three days to ensure full compliance with the required requirements.
He confirmed that this inspection campaign is ongoing and will cover all governorates and cooperative societies, noting that the Authority’s inspectors work around the clock at all inspection centers. He called for reporting any observations or expired food materials via the “Raqib” platform or the Authority’s social media channels to ensure rapid response and handling of all reports.
